Burton Roadhouse is Closing

To the Burton Roadhouse followers:

Let me start by saying that Burton, Texas has the kindest, most generous, supportive, & friendliest people in the USA. There have been times I’ve been overwhelmed and always humbled by your love and support. Thank you for being with me through this often tumultuous 2.5 years.

I have made the heartbreaking decision to close the doors of the Roadhouse. It’s not a spur of the moment decision, nor is it based on any individuals. It came after a rather long talk with my accountant and talking it over with some key people I trust.

Most of you know my story; it’s been lived in the open since before the Roadhouse opened. It’s been an emotional ride. Carrying the responsibility of this place without Steve has been to say the least, nearly impossible.

When Steve & I decided to start this amazing music venue, we knew it would be rough. Little did we know how rough it would become shortly after purchasing the building. When the diagnosis of Stage 4 cancer was handed to us, we almost called it quits. Who in their right mind would start a business while one was fighting for life? Well, I guess we were the crazy ones! It meant the world to me that Steve could enjoy it if even for a few months.

There have been many nights I’ve looked around with tears in my eyes at all of you having fun in the place that we created. Friends, neighbors, & loved ones creating this community. It’s exactly how we envisioned it to be when we started this process. I have to imagine Steve would be proud of me, of all of us making this dream come true.

I’m sitting at the bar with tears streaming down my face writing this to you all. I don’t regret the decision to open the Roadhouse, how could I when so many of you have become lifelong friends. For that, I feel like the luckiest woman alive. You’ve welcomed me with open arms and for that I am eternally grateful and as mentioned above, humbled.

Effective immediately, the kitchen is permanently closed. We will be open on Friday & Saturday nights (bar only) from 4 PM – Midnight through the end of the month. Our last musical lineup: Friday 12th Tim & Alicia Kulhanek, Sat 13th The Risky Liver Band, Fri 19th Sean Orr Trio, Sat 20th Mud & Honey, Fri 26th Randy Pavlock and Twenty Four Seven, & Sat 27th Skaroake Halloween Party w/ Kountry Chick (adult Halloween party).

The building will be available for special event rentals and/or leasing. For information regarding that, please contact me at: melissa866@gmail.com

I will be here the remainder of the hours we are open and I hope y’all come to say goodbye to Fawn, Joanna, and me.

Much love to all of you, Melissa
